You’ve seen the images. And you’ve heard the stories of the Syrian refugee crisis. But you haven’t known what you can do to help. You are not alone.

March 2016 marked the five year anniversary of the initial conflict in Syria that has led to a refugee crisis of historic proportions. The numbers are staggering—half of the population of Syria has fled the country, and 4.8 million people now live as refugees in neighboring countries.

There are many well-established charity organizations helping the thousands of migrants flooding into Europe, most of whom are fleeing violence in Syria. The big charity groups are well-known. But there are other, smaller groups doing incredible work on the ground, every day. Here are four US-based charities that you can help right away.

Organizations Supported:

Collateral Repair Project is working on the ground in Amman, Jordan who is hosting hundreds of thousands of refugees from Syria and Iraq. They provide direct assistance to refugees and other victims of war and conflict.

World Relief  will supply welcome kits and come alongside refugees as they begin their journey in America.

Karam Foundation is providing support for Syrian refugee families in need and developing sustainable, future-building tools that: Stabilize families, educate children, prevent child labor, discourage early teen marriages, and keep refugees in host countries close to Syria.

International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future.
